Our History
“We’ve come this far by Faith”

57 Years of Fellowship
In March of 1962 in Pensacola, Florida, Rev. J.C. Sellers met at St. John’s Lodge on the corner of Hatton Street and Davis Highway with a group of six Christians who were led by the Holy Spirit to establish a house of worship for the Lord. After much prayer, these six Christians submitted and selected the name “Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.”
The second Pastor, Rev. W.L. Harden, led the members under God’s hand to purchase the property on the corner of 6th Avenue and Hatton Street. The building process went as follows:
- October 1963: Plans for the building were developed.
- February 1964: The foundation was laid.
- January 1965: The Pastor and members marched into the building.
Under the leadership of the fifth Pastor, Rev. C.E. Salter, Jr. in 1969, the church membership outgrew the original building.
- June 1975: Ground breaking and dedication services for new building.
